Here I am...at work (shh....that will be our secret)... it's four hours til the long weekend starts. Officially. And the official four longest hours in the history of the world to get through.
But. Once we get through those, it's smooth sailing baby for three whole days!
Today, my son and I are matching again. This started about a month ago when he quietly observed what I was wearing as we picked out his clothes for the day, and when I suggested a shirt, he shook his head 'no' and pointed at my shirt. Ahhhh....understanding dawns and we look for a shirt that is close to the blue of the shirt I am wearing.
And so since then, he tries to get as close as possible to have our outfits match. Today we are wearing a light blue t-shirt, a darker blue sweater, and jeans. Yesterday it was beige pants and a black sweater. The day before it was jeans and a black striped shirt.
When I choose my clothes in the morning, I find myself trying to pick combinations that I know Mav has similar choices for.
We're a bit goofy, it's true.
Saturday is family day - we're heading down to Granville Island to check stuff out, but ultimately we want to come home with a mess of fresh crab legs and oysters. This is Hope's request - not the oyster, just the crab legs...the oysters are for me! Only me! Mwaahahaha.... sorry. Hope tried some of Aven's crab legs once at a restaurant and now she's hooked.
We'll probably end up watching a movie because that's what Aven and Hope really like to do and me and Mav go along with cause we like to hang out with the movie-watchers.
I have also been sloowllly taking over one of the basement rooms. It was a playroom with Hope's stuff in it, but that has now been condensed with the other play area. I mean really, what house needs two playrooms? Not ours. So I cleared it out and took the pictures off the wall, mudded, sanded, and primed. Next step is painting which I may just start tonight and hopefully finish up by Sunday.
And then to scout out some office furnishings. I would ideally like an old wood desk/table that I can paint white. I will also need some storage solutions for a printer and filing, etc.
I forgot to take 'before' pictures, dagnabit, but I will try to post 'after pictures when it's all done. I picked the paint colour after going into the Cloth Shop on Granville Island and buying fat quarters of my favourite five cloth patterns that I saw there. I will put them in various sized embroidery hoops and hang them on the wall.
What else, what else.....Sunday I'm playing piano in the church worship band - that's always fun!
And Hope and Grandma get to spend some quality time together in the afternoon while the rest of us nap - well, Aven will be watching football with his eyes closed. Me and Mav will be napping.
Then Sunday night is Date Night! Not that we know what we'll be doing...all we know is there will be no kids involved and that's what's important after all. ;o)
Monday, day-off-Monday, how we love you. We will spend the morning shivering in solidarity with the veterans as Hope marches in the Remembrance Day parade with her unit and marvel as the fighter jets soar overhead.
Hopefully in the afternoon we will get to spend some time with a dear friend and her munchkins just to round out the perfect long weekend!
How does your long weekend look?
